Position Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in supporting clinical operations at AIS healthcare facilities. In this position, you will work alongside physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality patient care, assist with clinical procedures, manage electronic medical records, and ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience from check-in through discharge.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Obtain and record patient vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight
  • Assist physicians and providers during examinations and clinical procedures
  • Administer injections and perform venipuncture/phlebotomy as directed by supervising providers
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other diagnostic procedures as required
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and sterile technique as directed

Administrative Duties

  • Document patient information, medical history, and clinical findings accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars
  • Coordinate referrals, lab orders, and follow-up appointments
  • Answer patient inquiries and communicate effectively with patients and families

Compliance

  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Follow OSHA standards and infection control protocols
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program
  • Current CMA certification through AAMA, AMT, or equivalent
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with clinical procedures including phlebotomy, EKGs, and injections
  • Familiarity with scheduling and front-office administrative workflows

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to perform clinical procedures
  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary to assess patient conditions
